Cosmos is my favorite flower.

I produce each image of cosmos through a process of overlaying numerous layers and pruning away at them, just like with an oil painting. I attempt to guide the inherent beauty of my subject into the viewer.

When attempting to visualize the invisible and inaudible by overlaying numerous layers of time and space into the photograph, I can feel a symphony that combines the two opposing elements of “fantasy” and “reality”, melting them into each other in the appearance of the cosmos. Moreover, the music that cosmos depict waft a touch of sadness in addition to the clairvoyance, just like a conversation between theater actors in the midst of an ensemble of a duet, trio or quartet. It is comedic to claim that a flower may sing, but my heart is soothed and it melts when I look at a cosmos field. Perhaps, the cosmos are singing a tragedy, harboring something like sarcastic resignation in regards to these works. We can, for example, feel nostalgic about a scenery we look at for the first time. The memories and feelings of when I was a child, is the main theme for my works.

My photographs are based on photo-montage, but elements of painting are also employed with an emphasis, in order to produce certain visual effects that make expression possible. With an influence from literature and music too, my photographs come into being through a combination of different art forms.

I present to you a world effected through free creative acts.
